I was being dragged out of the land that has got as many helicopters as mosquitoes on a twilit summer lake. The coach was hot the air was sticky. And I was stuck between the seats. Listening to Eve singing. Watching so much roadkill bleed. Everybody was asleep. Their bodies swung like zombies. Or drifting like weed in the current on the bottom of the sea. As we entered the city they all had their eyes shut to the glowing red sky. Reflected by all those spotless glass facades. An eye for an eye and Isaac’s smitten. A tooth for a tooth yes he’s been bitten. But I was not part of the story. So he tells me not to worry. Now all I can do is sit and listen. Shout “fuck money” and “fuck the system”.
